Previous Projects

1. 'Awards for All' Grant funded the Griffon Landmarks Sculpture Trail.  Griffon commissioned three artists to construct 3 artworks in different materials to be located in Griffon Country.  The three pieces are:

  • Wooden sculpture by Richard Bray - Bacton Woods
  • Mosiac sculpture by Maggie Campbell - Millfield School, North Walsham
  • Metal scultpure by Nora Gaston - Mundesley

Have you seen the sculptures? Why not pop along and have a look at these lovely pieces of art.

2. Griffon Walks  Funded in partnership with Norfolk Coastal Partnership, 3 more walks leaflets produced (2 at Southrepps & 1 Mundesley) and published in March 2008 to add to previously published Pigney's Wood walk.  The leaflets are still available. Please go onto our Griffon Country link and the top of this page and you will see the walks on the side bar. There is a link that you can click onto to print them or just to have a look. There are also leaflets available in the Griffon office.

3.  Who We Are Brochure  As part of the Communications policy, 8,400 copies of the brochure were produced and sent out to residents of the Griffon area with the Town and Country newspaper in January 2008.  The leaflet was aimed at increasing awareness of Griffon and what we do within the community.  You can download this leaflet at the bottom of this page

4.  Griffon Newsletter  In Summer 2007 a new format and branded 8 page glossy newsletter was produced.  Used by the NNDC as an example of the best practice amongst other Local Area Partnerships. We distribute this newsletter through email and also we have hard copies in the office for anyone to pop in and pick one up.  If you would like to download a copy, please go to the side bar and click on newsletters.

5. Pigney's Wood  The Wood trustees obtained a 'Breathing Spaces' lottery grant and asked the Griffon to manage the regeneration project.  Griffon organised 500+ volunteers to plant 7,000 wildflowers during winter 07/08.  Local community, including schools, were heavily involved in the planting.  Local schools now use the Wood as part of their curriculum.  The car park and barn areas were also improved - the new area was opened by Norman Lamb MP in March 2008.  We fully support this great project and is pleased that our Company Secretary, who is also a trustee of the Wood, attends their meetings on our behalf and report back to us at our Representatives meetings.

6.  North Walsham Play Equipment Project  In May 2008, £30,000 was obtained from EEDA 'Quality of Place' Fund, which was added to £15,000 obtained by North Walsham Town Council from Anglian Water and combined to purchase children's play equipment for the Memorial Park in North Walsham.

7.  North Walsham & Dilham Canal Trust  Griffon was an original member of the steering group that set up the Trust in December 2007, which seeks to restore the canal as both a community asset and tourist attraction.  The amount of work that has been carried out over the last few years is quite vast.  We are pleased to support such a great renovation of what was once a very popular canal.  We have updates from Roger Hopkinson who attends meetings on our behalf and reports back at our Representatives meeting.  There is an update to download at the bottom of the page.
